Bonnie Patterson was listed among Canada's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2006

    TORONTO, ON, CANADA, August 15, 2011 /Womens Interest PR News/ -- Bonnie M. Patterson, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Ontario Universities, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education leadership.

Named among Canada's 100 most powerful women in 2006, Professor Patterson has been a vital contributor to Ontario's education system for over 35 years. She lends her expertise in strategic planning, government relations and higher education policy development to the Council of Ontario Universities. In her third year at the helm, Ms. Patterson is responsible for overseeing four areas, advancing public policy with all levels of government, performing advocacy work related to funding Ontario's universities, overseeing central services for the sector, and building consensus among sectoral leaders on common issues that will promote a high quality, efficient and effective university sector. Professor Patterson considers working with university students and leaders to be the most gratifying aspect of her career, and attributes her success to her passion for her profession and the quality of the education that she received.

An alumna of The University of Western Ontario, Ms. Patterson holds a Master of Library and Information Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. She previously served as president of Trent University for over a decade, Dean of Business of Ryerson University, and Chair of the Board of the Peterborough Regional Health Center. She was appointed to the Order of Ontario and as a member of the Order of Canada.
