SUMMERVILLE, SC, July 12, 2011 /Womens Interest PR News/ -- Dr. Barbara A Derrick, Director at The Women's Center in Summerville, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in her career.
The Women's Center was established as a service to women. The first organization of its kind in South Carolina, the center's doors opened in 1989 and has been an instrument of motivation and a vehicle of growth for women who have an interest in wholeness. The mission of The Center is to assist women to become all that they can be. In its many years of operation the services of the Center have been expanded to reach many people. A cancer experimental and control group was formed with Medical University of South Carolina to study the correlation between fat intake and cancer. The results of which were published nationally. A second group for cancer survivors was offered at the center and was the first formed in the north area.
In 1996, Dr. Derrick received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Southwest University. She also holds a Master's and a Bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master's Degree in Divinity from Garrett- Evangelical Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. In June 2010 she was named as a presenter at the International Association for the Study of Dreams in Jungian studies. She has been published by the American Medical Association and the American Holistic Health Association and is the author of five books, the most recent of which is Your Spiritual Growth Handbook: A Five Week Program for Personal Renewal.
