We Need the Community's Help - Support Bikes Build Futures Nonprofit Grand Opening by Donating Gently-Used Bikes on September 10th at our New Location in Orange, CA
Create jobs for Orange County homeless kids by donating gently-used bikes to Bikes Build Futures. This innovative program is taking homeless kids off the streets and putting them to work. The event is supported by REI and the local community.
SANTA ANA, CA, August 26, 2011 /Womens Interest PR News/ -- Local Orange County nonprofit, Build Futures, is excited to announce the launch of their social enterprise nonprofit program, Bikes Build Futures. The local community is invited to donate gently-used bicycles on Saturday, September 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its new location: 2454A North Glassell, Orange, CA 92865. In addition to the Grand Opening, bike donations are accepted year-round on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. Arrangements can also be made for bike pickups if needed.
The dynamic outcome of Bikes Build Futures is that the program provides homeless kids with employment, basic job skills, transportation, and the ability to apply basic life skills to help themselves into a better situation. The kids earn paychecks by receiving the gently-used bike donations and reconditioning them to be resold to the public.
Kathy Tillotson, Founder/Executive Director of Build Futures states, "We as a community need to take action to change the future lives of these kids by providing them resources and giving them hope. Your involvement will take homeless kids off the streets, allow them to reach their full potential, and afford them the opportunity and luxury to dream by fulfilling their basic needs first. For the program to continue, we need your gently-used bikes, time and cash donations. We are thankful for the generosity and support the community has extended to Bikes Build Futures thus far; and are excited about the great work we can do together in the future."
